Choosing the best size for names can be tricky sometimes. You want to make them look good and appropriately sized on the item, with a balance between being too large or too small. Here are some tips for choosing the right size for your text. Ask yourself these questions before you decide on a size.

You can download our size chart to help you choose the right font size for your order. We use the height of an uppercase letter with no descenders to determine the text size, not the width of a name.

• Where are the names going on the garment? Placement can be a huge factor in determining the size. Will it be chest size on a polo or on top of a bag.

• How long are the names? Names that have a lot of characters you will want to choose a smaller size for the text.

• Are they first names, last names, or both? Full names are much longer than a single name, especially for people who have a hyphenated last name.

• What font are you using? Big bold fonts tend to stand out more than a script font at the same size.

• Upper and lower case. This can have an impact on the look of the name and how much it stands out.

• Consider whether you will be making this order again in the future with different names that may be longer.
